The Drunken Plum is back this summer!
This one of my favorite cocktails as we approach the end of the summer and plums are back in season. It is a fusion of summer flavors At the heart of the cocktail there lies the perfect balance between sweet and boozy. Infusing a plum simple syrup combined with a more botanical gin and citrus tones creates a balance.
Here's how you can enjoy one yourself.

Ingredients:
2 oz Gin (Recommend: floral or modern)
.75 oz Plum Simple Syrup (see recipe below)
.5 oz Lime Juice
Pinch of cinnamon
Optional: 2-3 oz club soda
Garnish: Plum Slice
Method:
Combine all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker
Shake thoroughly for 30-45 seconds
Pour in an old fashioned glass
Garnish with a slice of plum
Serve Immediately!
Plum Simple Syrup

3-5 plums (sliced)
1/2 cup sugar
1/8 cup brown sugar

In a pan, gently boil the sliced plums for about 5-8 minutes or until the slices are starting to fall apart.
Right before the plums start to fall apart, add sugar and brown sugar.
Stir constantly until the sugars have dissolved

By this point the plums should be falling apart, crush the plums with the back of your spatula and stir
Taste test
Pour your simple syrup into a nonreactive glass and let cool completely
This is recipe is a bit more refined from when I created it last summer. I have been trying to improve my first cocktails creations throughout the year and there is a real improvement.
Like I said, super simple recipe and the perfect delight for these hot days. I recommend batch drinking this as well and serve at parties.
