It has been a while but this is not the "last word." The Last Word was invented in 1915, only a few years prior to Prohibition and the Roaring 20s. However, it wouldn't be a surprise that if this drink was the cause of such cause because it is such a strong cocktail.
As someone who doesn't use Green Chartreuse often, it opens a new application of experimenting with different spirits and bringing out certain tastes. It is so dynamic that is no wonder that this cocktail has been popular for over 100 years!

Ingredients:
.75 oz. strong or high quality Gin (Empress 1908, Bombay Sapphire, etc.)
.75 oz. Luxardo maraschino liqueur
.75 oz. green Chartreuse
.75 oz. lime juice
Method:
- Combine all four ingredients in a cold cocktail shaker
- Shake vigorously for 30 seconds
- Strain into chilled coupé glass
- Serve immediately!
- Note: Green chartreuse is one of the liqueurs out there and there is no substitute for it.
Even though there are only four ingredients, it still packs a strong punch and that is the last word for now.
