I have showcased Whiskey Sours from the classic recipe to the DC twist. I am working on a new project which I will reveal in the coming weeks.
Lemons are important to cocktail making whether an ingredient or a garnish. Yuzu, takes it to the next level.
For those who don’t know much about yuzu, it is a Japanese fruit that resembles a lime but is more like a lemon-lime hybrid. With the upcoming fall, I am starting to switch to more whiskey cocktails and just had to go for a whiskey sour. If you haven’t experimented with yuzu liqueur lately, go find a bottle ASAP!
Ingredients:
2oz. Suntory whisky
1 oz. Yuzu liqueur
.25 oz lemon juice
.25 oz simple syrup
Spritz of orange bitters on the rim of the glass
1/2 egg white optional
Garnish with Lemon Twist
Method:
Without Egg White:
- In a cocktail shaker combine all materials in a cocktail shaker
- Shake with ice and strain into a glass
- Garnish with a lemon twist
With Egg White
- Combine all ingredients including an egg white in a cocktail shaker
- Dry shake the ingredients for 30 seconds until all ingredients are emulsified
- Add ice and shake again
- Strain into a cocktail glass, garnish with a lemon twist, and serve immediately
I love this cocktail and have used Yuzu on other cocktaisl including a highball version as well that went against the Whiskey Honey and Ginger Highball are two of my favorites that went head to head in the Cocktail World Cup. You can watch the full video here:
