It finally happened! One of my cocktails was a hit for my friend, Skaras. This weekend, we celebrated his 30th birthday at Shaw’s Tavern in Shaw, DC. I am glad I got to feature one my new favorite cocktails for the fall, for celebrating, and for an upcoming project that I will reveal in the next week or two.
Coming up with a new fall cocktail has been a bit tricky. It’s still warm enough for some sweet and refreshing cocktails, but it is not any time for toddy’s or warmer cocktails. One of my favorite fall cocktails is either a Whiskey Sour or my fall favorite, the Yuzu Highball. For my new Whiskey Ginger cocktail, I took it to the next level featuring some German spirits combined with classic bourbon.
I present to you my newest cocktail, “Churches Don’t Issue Liquor Licenses.” It’s a perfect name for a great friend!
Ingredients:
2 oz. Bulleit Bourbon or Bourbon Whiskey
1 oz. Barenjager Honey Liqueur (German)
.75 oz. Ginger Simple Syrup
.75 oz. Lemon Juice
Club Soda
Garnish: Lemon Wedge
Method:
- See my recipe for ginger and lime simple syrup as it will be the perfect sweetness needed for this cocktail
- Let the simple syrup cool completely
- Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker
- Shake thoroughly in a chilled highball glass
- Top with club soda
I have to give credit to Skaras for an epic name to this incredible cocktail! I am very happy that I was able to make a fun cocktail for you and to celebrate your big 30. Happy Birthday brother!
